Adopt-A-Student Nursing Program

Lancaster Community Hospital (LCH), in cooperation with Antelope Valley College (AVC), is offering students in their last two years of the Registered Nursing program the opportunity to be selected for the "Adopt-A-Student" program.

Lancaster Community Hospital is offering payment up to $2,000 per semester to AVC in your behalf to cover books, tuition, uniforms, fees and other education-related expenses in the form of a Promissory Note.

Your selection and participation in the "Adopt-A-Student" program requires your commitment to become employed
as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Lancaster Community Hospital immediately upon graduation for a minimum of two years. Satisfying this commitment considers the loan paid in full. Tutoring and mentoring by a staff RN is also available from Lancaster Community Hospital at no cost to the student.

Requirements:
  • Applicant must currently be accepted or enrolled in the Registered Nursing program at AV College to be considered eligible for this program.
  • Student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above.
  • Student must complete and pass an interview process with a nurse manager from Lancaster Community Hospital.
  • Each student is required to submit a letter of personal reference. Students must read and sign the promissory agreement and the certification section of the Adopt-A-Student Nursing Program Application.
Applications are submitted to the AVC Financial Aid Office, where they will be verified for eligibility and forwarded to LCH for approval. LCH will contact the student and schedule an interview with a panel of nurses. After the student has passed the interview, LCH will contact the Financial Aid Office with the final approval.

Students maintaining eligibility will automatically receive the funds designated by the program each semester. No additional applications or interviews are required.

Applications for the Adopt-A-Student Nursing Program are available from Antelope Valley College or at Lancaster Community Hospital. Please call AVC at 661-722-6303 or LCH at 661-940-1459 or visit the LCH Human Resources Office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
